Write about a conversation that changed you.

A conversation that changed me was when I was young. A boy I used to talk to and like in elementary was texting me online in a game. He goes to the same elementary of course not a random online friend. But, I was joking with him, but the joke was like suicidal. The thing was in a funny jokingly manner, but I knew better than that. He had told me I shouldn't joke like that and things like that weren't funny they were serious. From there I didn't say such things like that anymore ever since he was serious and I had liked him like that back then. Summary: In class we worked on a worksheet, reading about social media and how it affects teens. Reflection: After reading the articles we looked for the claim and evidence in the readings.

Prompt: Write about something that you believed as a child.

As a child I believed in Santa Claus. Were he comes to peoples houses and drops presents through their chimney or houses. I'd wish to believe he had ate cookies and drank milk but our house doesn't have a chimney, so It was not believable when I grew up. The Santa hat and huge belly with a white beard was not possible for him to just show up at peoples houses. It just didn't make sense. Until I soon believed it was really just my parents buying gifts and wrapping them under the Christmas tree. No man barged into our house and gave me gifts. How does he know what I even want he can't be like the Lord. Summary: Today in class we worked on our vocabulary and made a slideshow about how to remember our vocabulary.  Reflection: I am working on my blog and finishing my google slides for my vocab.

Write about a fear you have overcome.

A fear I have overcome is the darkness. Before I was scared of the dark that I had to turn on the light every single time. I have overcome this fear because of the Lord. From the bible the Lord helps guide you in the light. He's always there for us in the dark no matter where you are and how scary it is. I understood that there's nothing to be scared of when it just the dark and you have light inside. Whenever I am in a dark place I really just think of him and its all okay.  Summary: Today in class we worked on identifying claims. Reflection: I read paragraph one of the article and did my claims.

Prompt: As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

As I get older and face new things, I think the thing I will most worry about is growing up. The process of growing up takes a long time from when you are young. Getting to know and understand new things may be challenging. Like not knowing how money works in the real world, or having to have money for everything in life that you are going to do. Like food, a home, your job, and a car. All those apply to money and how you will get it. Part of the adult process is including all those things. Then you have to start a family and take care of that, now for me I still feel young and that process will take a lot and getting used to it.  Summary: Today In class our teacher went over presentations about the 3 literary forms of writing. He then talked about the beginnings of how to start an essay. Reflection: Today in class I worked on examples and started to understand how the 3 claims work.

Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

A truth I am unable to accept is that after you die you just stop existing. In my opinion that is a scary consequence after you have lived for a period of time. Then out of nowhere you get in an accident or disease and you just disappear. I find that very scary and weird. How will I know I went to heaven or hell? How will I know what my loved ones think of me. What happens after that, I just stop existing. I didn't want to accept the truth that after everything I have been through it all goes to nothing.  Summary: Today in class I took notes.  Reflection: I understood the 3 rhetorical things in writing and worked on my blog post.

Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

One time I was judged unfairly was in 9th grade Lit. Where I was the only Asian in that class so it already seemed different. I already had heard some things about her not liking Asians, but I had to see with my eyes. It was true, but I am a grade A student so she couldn't do anything. When it came to assignments she didn't give me a 100% completion, but a 98% or something close. I know that is good too, but atleast just give me  a 100% already. But for other Asians the ones that look Asian Asian I don't think she likes them like that. But, the ones that are Indian or White Asian she seems to like. She treated me a little differently from others and during an in class interactive project out of all the students I had to wait to be graded last. I was finished with my project and all she had to do was come up and hear my presentation, she heard my friend beside me, but walked past me. Summary: Today in class our teacher wasn't here so we did CommonLit.  Reflection: I wor...

Imagine you are learning about Hispanic/Latino heritage for the very first time. What would you be curious to know about the traditions, foods, music, or celebrations?

The things I am curious about Hispanic/Latino heritage month is its food, traditions, and celebrations. They have a very unique and diverse culture that I'm interested in getting to know. They celebrate different days and different events like The Day of The Dead. They eat all different kinds of foods from their culture and the traditions are very religious. They perform dances and worship gods in which I'm curious about is how they celebrate it. Summary: We started pre-writing our essays and brain storm ideas. Reflection: I finished my 5 topics for the essay as well as 3 details for each.

After viewing your classmates’ poem posters, select one presentation that caught your attention. Describe what you enjoyed about it or something new you learned from their work.

Out of all the presentations I enjoyed the Jesus presentation the most. That person's poster stood out the most because of my belief and faith for the Lord. I love Jesus with all my heart even tho I don't understand what he does sometimes and I don't understand why he does things, but I always have my trust in him. I trust him with everything even tho I ask him for a lot of things, like taking care of me but besides that he's the only person I really go to when I need someone and he's the only open person who can hear my mind and understood me. Summary: Today in class we did presentations on our posters and we learned about the process of writing an essay, Reflection: I presented my presentation and read it out loud.

In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

When someone feels different or out of my world in my story they consider being friends with me different or like they don't fit in. It effects how they feel about me and our relationship together because we do different things and they don't feel like they fit into my friend group. It creates a longing distance between the person and me because we don't have a good bond or chemistry to be able to talk to each other or even feel close with them. They don't fit into my story but I try to fit into everyone's story, trying to match their energy to feel in place with different people. Summary: Today the teacher wasn't here so we did Newsela. Reflection: I finished my Newsela and blog post.

Of today’s 15 vocabulary words, which three do you think you will use the most in your speaking and writing this semester? Explain why each word feels useful or powerful to you.

Out of all the 15 words in our vocabulary today I will be using adroit, agape, and aesthetic. These words stand out to me the most and are short so its easy to remember. Adroit I would use to say I know how to do something, I'm good at it, or I'm just smart about it. I would use agape a lot too because I will always be surprised about stuff that is interesting so I would always use that to express my emotions. I would use aesthetic for when I see something I like. Like anything actually that looks beautiful and cute. Summary: Today in class we practiced our vocabulary and put our answers in illuminate. Reflection: I finished the vocabulary practices and turned it in.

It’s Homecoming Week! 🎉 What do you love most about being part of the Lakeside community? How do you show off your school spirit? What is your favorite Homecoming tradition or event?

I love the spirit days the most to being apart of the Lakeside community. I dress according to the themes on each day and to see if I even have the clothes to match the theme. My favorite homecoming event is the pep rallies. I find them somewhat fun and entertaining to watch. Sometimes the bands play, dance team, and the football team come out to do some tricks. Sometimes they do teachers vs. students which is interesting. I always await for that week were the days are also close to the homecoming game and hoco. Summary: Today in class we took our test on a poem we read.  Reflection: I finished the test and I completed my poem poster.

Which learning method do you enjoy the most? Class discussions, worksheet work, or hands-on actvities. Select one and tell why.

I prefer hands-on activities. I prefer this activity because I'm a visualizer and its better for me to see and touch stuff to understand. I think most people including me would enjoy it too because it would be fun. Rather then class discussions some students are scared to talk and this way people wouldn't reconnect more. Worksheets are sometimes a lot and not a great way for students to understand and gather together. So I believe hands-on activities is the best activity I enjoy most. Summary: Today in class our teacher went over the rubric for our poem presentation. Reflection: Today I worked on my poem poster.

Which aspect of creating a poem do you enjoy the most? Tell what it is and explain why.

The aspect I enjoy most when creating a poem is the rhyming parts. The words that sound the same in the end of each line. Those are the most interesting to create to match another word when reading it out loud. They have a good rhyme to it which actually makes the poem sound more nice and proficient. I also like how a poem looks when first starting to consider what to write about. I like the beginning parts to creating a poem the aspect of thinking what it's gonna be about and what figurative language we are going to use.  Summary: Today in class we looked over a power-point about figurative language.  Reflection: We started writing our poem.

After reading Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem "Constantly Risking Absurdity," which explores the poet's daring craft, write about your most absurd personal experience. Describe a single, specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish. Ensure your response is vivid, concise, and captures the essence of absurdity.

My most absurd personal experience is in elementary school where we were doing a project together in a group and we were answering questions. My crush someone I liked back then was in the same group as me. His friend had to answer a question and he got it wrong so I laughed at him, but not like crazy mean like it was like a giggle because the way he answered it was like he was trying to be funny. Then when it came to my turn I answered the question I didn't get it right either and my crush said something back, but I forgot. It was very foolish and embarrassing. Which I had no idea why I did, but I thought I was confident in my answer.  Summary: Today in class we read another poem. Reflection: I analyzed the poem and understood its meaning.

You are currently working on a soundtrack for selected Emily Dickinson poems. With that in mind, if asked to choose a song to describe your life right now, which song would you select and why?

If I had to describe my life in one song it would be Strawberry Champagne by Dept. This songs gives a meaning of a bittersweet life like strawberry champagne. Where there are highs and lows but that's just how life is like red wine. I may not be okay, but I will have to be anyways. There could be a hint of sweetness from that someone special that makes your life sweet, but without that person life is just like like the taste of strawberry champagne.  Summary: Today in class we wrote a soundtrack for the poems we read.  Reflection: I took a test today and tried to find songs on the poems we read.

If you were to compose a poem about one aspect of your life, which topic would it fall into and what would your overall life's message be?

If I were to compose a poem of my life it would fall into the time category. Overall, my life message would be to just go with the flow. Time is precious in life but if you pay attention to it to much you might overthink and try to get everything done at a specific amount of time. Time would be the topic that it would fall into because everything relies on time for me. You can't control everything that comes towards you and be prepared for everything sometimes you just have to live with it.  Summary: Today in class we read about Emily Dickinson's poems and annotated.  Reflection: Today I finished my heart and understood more about how we read poetry.

You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

The class has been very calm and interesting so far. Reading poems and analyzing different perspectives of literature has been very fascinating and easy to understand. I have classmates in there too so its more fun to have someone to talk to the work about. I'm glad the class is not hard and that we have time to do the assignments that are due. The projects are not that huge but easy and simple to do which makes it a nice class. The teacher explains things very throughout the lesson and every detail that needs to be understood so we can be better at annotating passages and understand what's going on.  Summary: Today in class we read about a poem and did a worksheet on a heart. Reflection: I understood the poem and finished coloring and drawing the heart.
