Prompt: After watching the short film Identity, write a blog post reflecting on how the masks in the film represent the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are. Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?

One moment from the clip that stood out to me is when she took off her mask and everyone was looking at her like she is a monster or just because she is different. I want the mask to reveal that I am an Asian-American. I am Asian, but not just any Asian, but I am Vietnamese. I want my mask to show that I am not Korean, Chinese, or Japan, I am Vietnamese. The film connects to the struggle of the poem and the mask highlighting the pressure of being different and how you'd have to look different on the outside but show yourself, who you are inside.

Summary: We read and analyzed the poem.

Reflection: I finished my blog post and I am working on my mask.
