In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

From the poem imagination helps me cope with stress and boredom when I lay down and start dreaming. When I'm bored I lay down and close my eyes and just think. It helps me calm down with peace and escape from reality. My imagination goes beyond when I'm by myself so my mind just goes to memories where I'm happy or moments I can't forget.

Summary: Today in class we read a new poem and did our writable response.

Reflection: I finished my presentation and did my writable.
