Prompt: People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?

When I felt overwhelmed by my big math project or other homework, I decided to take a break and play outside for a little while. Being away from my desk helped my brain relax and stop feeling so frustrated. When I came back, I realized that I actually knew how to solve the problems all along; I just needed a clear head to see it. Summary: In class we read chapter 1 and answered questions. Reflection: I finished answering my questions about chapter 1.

Prompt: After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

We weren't able to read chapter one in class today;even though its a short chapter, we didn't have time. Instead we went over the introduction of the book. Knowing what hiking means, what you have to bring, and just being ready for it. We went over a presentation about what they book would be about and that it's over a real story. Summary: In class we went over an introduction of the book. Reflection: We wrote on our paper what supplies we would need to bring for hiking.

Prompt: Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

The easiest word for me to understand was bumpkin because it sounds like "pumpkin" – which is a simple and plain object. The most challenging word was indecorous because it is just a hard word to remember. For my slideshow, I wrote: "Miles says that he was soporific on Mia – saying that when she woke up she was even more tired than she had already been." Using my own sentences and picking images helped me because it made the definitions stick in my head. Summary: In class we worked on a slideshow about unit 9 Vocab words. Reflection: I finished my slideshow and blog post.

Prompt: After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

While looking at other students work, its very neat and detailed. I looked my poster's comments and feedback. I realized the color them pops out the most. While designing my poster I was definitely going for a cute pink vibe. Realizing this, I brainstormed how I would put all the information and pictures. After I finished it, I took a minute to think about how it pops out a cotton candy vibe. Summary: In class we looked and commented on all our classmates posters. Reflection: I finished commenting on all my classmates posters.

Prompt: Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Gemini said           The most challenging part was coming up with 12 different ideas for my similes and metaphors. It was hard to think of new things to say without using the same words over and over again. I worked thought the challenge by brainstorming my ideas first and thinking of things to compare my struggles with. Summary: We worked on our project. Reflection: I finished my project. Prompt: Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Writing metaphors helped me see that I am stronger than I thought I was. I learned that I view my growth like a plant growing and still becoming better. Even when things are hard or confusing;I keep pushing until I find my goal. Doing this assignment made me realize that my mistakes aren't just accidents; they are like beginning starters that help me get to the final, better version of myself. Summary: Today in class we worked on a paper to start off our project about similes and metaphors. Reflection: I will continue to finish my 6 smiles and metaphors.
